Claudia Sorlini


Professor emeritus of Agricultural Microbiology at the University of Milan, he is a Board Member and Vice President of the Cariplo Foundation, a Board Member of the KON Foundation. He is a member of various scientific and cultural committees with a focus on agri-food, connected to the production, services and training sectors (School of journalism at Unimi, master's degree in agri-food safety at ISPI...). He taught at the State University of Milan, at the Polytechnic of Milan (for 12 years) and at the University of Molise (for 3 years). In the academic field he has held various positions: director of department, dean of Faculty, president of doctoral school, member of the Board of Directors, delegate of the Rector for international cooperation, Editor in chief of the journal Annals of Microbiology, (peer-reviewed, impact factor- rated), published by Springer. It has developed lines of research on the topics of sustainable agriculture (bioenergy, biofertility, biodegradability of synthetic molecules, depollution, crop resilience...etc.) also coordinating national and European projects, with collaborations with the relevant universities and research centers . As part of international cooperation with African countries, he designed and implemented a 60-credit master's degree on agriculture in arid areas at the University of Ain Shams - Cairo (Egypt) and established at the University of Makeni ( Sierra Leone), the Faculty of Agriculture (initially with Italian professors, then gradually replaced with local teachers) now well underway; it has also carried out collaborations with the Andean countries, especially in the food industry sector.
Over the years she has been a member or coordinator in about ten ministerial committees/commissions (Agriculture, Environment and Cultural Heritage). She was President of the Scientific Committee for EXPO 2015 of the Municipality of Milan composed of the vice-rectors of the seven Milanese universities, with the task of promoting and disseminating science in the sectors of agriculture, food, environment and health and Member of the Steering Committee of the EU Scientific Program for Expo 2015. She has been a member of around ten boards of directors, mainly of public bodies. Among the awards received are: Commander Order of Merit of the Italian Republic from the President of the Italian Republic "for the commitment made in the dissemination of environmental issues and in the diffusion of agricultural sciences also in the context of international cooperation" (March 2015); “Ambrogino d'Oro” from the Mayor of Milan (December 2015).
